My life has been full of music. I have, as a musician and DJ, been entertaining audiences for over 20 years. Originally from the California Bay Area, I’ve performed all over the country, playing saxophone in both the CA ska outfits Jimmy 2 Times and The Conspiracy as well as the San Francisco swing band, Lee Press-On and The Nails. My music collection spans decades in vinyl, cassette, CD, and digital form and with a wide range of musical influences, from oldies and R&B, hip-hop (new and old school) and country, to cutting-edge pop and EDM, my love of music shines through at each and every event.
I know from experience how many twists and turns life can throw during the course of an evening. Though weddings have been my primary focus, I have experienced hundreds of events ranging from concerts to private and corporate events and from bar mitzvahs to nightclubs and parties. I work with all of your vendors to make sure even the most complicated of timelines goes smoothly. I truly believe that no two events are exactly alike and will work with you to make sure that your music is exactly how you want and reflects your own unique tastes.
I aim to provide stellar client service and precisely execute your vision. With an unobtrusive and professional MC style, I believe my primary focus should be on the music. I believe in keeping the dancefloor full, while seamlessly integrating all of your musical tastes and requests. I am well known for my professionalism, friendly demeanor, keen attention to event details, and prompt communication. I will dedicate my time, knowledge and resources to ensure that you have a memorable event and an amazing experience.
When my husband-to-be and I were looking into music for our wedding, we were pretty settled on just using an iPod and basic PA system. Some family members persuaded us to check out DJ options, and we’re glad that we did — it was one of the best wedding choices we made. From the start, Joe was a fantastic fit — he was extremely friendly, very easy to communicate with and was very laid back — exactly what we were looking for.
Before the wedding, we filled out a worksheet that detailed song requests for first dances, any special requests, and overall what kind of music we would like throughout the reception. We also sent Joe a timeline of our entire wedding day and chatted with him for 15 minutes about a week before the big day.
On the wedding day, Joe came early to set up before our ceremony. We used his sound system for the ceremony itself and he took care of the processional and recessional music. Immediately following the wedding, he played the cocktail hour and the reception, mixing our requests, guest requests and some of his own choices perfectly. As requested, he was fairly quiet, just announcing events throughout the night such as the beginning of dinner and the cake cutting
What I loved most about having Joe as our DJ (aside from the great music!) was how well he communicated with us throughout the evening. We had a very DIY wedding and Joe took charge of the timeline, making sure that things like special dances, toasts and cutting the cake happened on time. We pushed a few things back due to the flow of the day, and Joe accommodated everything seamlessly. He also made sure to keep our photographer in the loop on our timeline. Additionally, Joe would periodically check in with us about songs that guests requested and if we’d like to hear them or not.
I truly did not realize the value in having a DJ at our event until we met Joe. He made our wedding day exponentially better and easier and I would absolutely recommend him.Chelsea Pardes
Joe was wonderful. His profession manner and yet great sense of humor (and flexibility as we had rain mid-way through our ceremony) helped to make the day so special. He was very pleasant to folks as he interacted with many (“what song was that?”… That kind of thing) and was completely enthusiastic and sweet when making announcements. I highly recommend him.”Sally Tallmadge
